Selena Gomez has received her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for acting, being recognised for her portrayal of Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building in the category for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series—Musical or Comedy. The 80th annual Golden Globe Awards nominees were revealed on December 12 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, by Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva.

For the 2023 Golden Globes, Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary, Kaley Cuoco of The Flight Attendant, Jenna Ortega of Wednesday, and Jean Smart of Hacks will compete alongside the singer.

Gomez won’t be the only Arconian attending the event in January 2023, either. The Hulu smash is a candidate for Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy, and her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short are also vying for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Musical or Comedy for their respective roles as Charles-Haden Savage and Oliver Putnam.

Only Murders in the Building, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Pam & Tommy, and The White Lotus are tied for the most nominated television shows of the year with four nominations each. Abbott Elementary is at the top of the list with five nominations.

Along with Martin and Short, Gomez also performs as an actor in Only Murders in the Building and serves as executive producer.

“This show has changed my life in so many ways,” she in an interview at the season two premiere of Only Murders in the Building, which is now getting ready for season 3, in June. “Being able to take this role was one of the greatest opportunities, and then I’m surrounded by these guys who are certified legends and just it’s a blast.”

The 2023 Golden Globes will be hosted by Jerrod Carmichael and will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock on January 10 at 8 pm EST.
