The Book of Boba Fett came into
existence ever since The Mandalorian’s season 2 end credits rolled out. The new
spin-off plans to rewrite the ending of ‘The Mandalorian’, by using one of the
most iconic supporting characters of Star Wars, the armoured bounty hunter Boba
Fett.

The post credits of The Mandalorian season 2 saw
allies Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in an intimidating confrontation with Bib
Fortuna, the chief of Jabba the Hutt.

After
the demise of his master in ‘Return of the Jedi‘, Bib ruled over the throne for
over 5 years, but had to step down after Boba Fett decided to claim the throne
as a crime lord. Earlier just a bounty hunter, Boba felt the need to take over
the criminal underworld and lead with respect, and not fear.

Disney, who then decided to premiere the show
on its OTT platform, apparently had no clue about what had been revealed in the
post credits scene of The Mandalorian. Director Robert Rodriguez shared that executive
producer Jon Favreau and writer-producer-director
Dave Filoni had kept the post credits reveal as a secret amongst themselves.

Although the post
credits scenes had suggested a new idea of Boba Fett’s role in the galaxy, The
Book of Boba Fett quickly reinterpreted the storyline with the fall of Jabba the
Hutt’s empire.

The first episode of the show premiered on December 29, 2021 on Disney+ Hotstar.

 Bib Fortuna’s
failure to sustain the empire is set to come as a massive shock for Boba Fett in the new show,
who had been engulfed by the Sarlacc pit all this while. Neither will Boba Fett take
over a flourishing empire, but a kingdom on the brink of collapse.

Therefore, The Book of Boba Fett will not only delve
deep into the life of Boba Fett, but also cover how the bounty hunter turned
crime lord plans to reinstate the empire back to its glory.
