Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers has recently opened up about the time when he auditioned for the leading role in the film The Amazing Spiderman. In an episode of the Just For Variety podcast, the husband of Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner said that he too was interested in acting and wanted to play the friendly neighbourhood superhero.

Jonas said in the podcast, “I remember years ago I was up for Spider-Man, and I was so, so excited, and it was the year Andrew Garfield got it”. The 33-year-old musician went on to say that he believed he had a chance of playing the character since the film’s director, Marc Webb, was a music video producer as well.

However, despite his attempts, Jonas ended up losing the role to Andrew Garfield. “Obviously, he was the right one,” said Jonas regarding Garfield’s casting.

The singer went on to add that despite failing to land the part, he did enjoy the process of auditioning. His exact comments were, “But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself”.

Jonas was further probed about whether he himself had donned the Spiderman suit during the audition. He replied that while wearing a suit was not essential for the audition, he did own one himself back in the day, and even wore it on some occasions.

The Sucker hitmaker went on to say that he still carries his love for acting and had a lot of time to work on his skills during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also opened up about how tough it is to impress Turner: “When you have a wife like Sophie Turner, who is a phenomenal actress, [being] the one filming you and directing you through it, you got to bring your A-game”.
