The character of Raquel Murillo has been portrayed by Itziar Ituño Martinez. Prior to her role in Money Heist (La Casa De Papel), the 46-year- old Spanish actress had ample experience of playing a controversial officer courtesy of her role as Nekane Beitia in Geonkale. However, playing Lisbon is no easy task. Saying that her character is complicated would be an understatement. In the two seasons, Raquel is displayed as a strong and powerful woman who has been assigned the monumental task of stopping the heist.
Although, she is more than capable as an investigator she is tricked by the Professor who gets closer to her disguised as Salva Martin. This leads to her making poor decisions while being in charge of the investigation which led to her being shunned by her colleagues. In her personal life she is a formerly abused wife who falls in love with the Professor and eventually switches sides in the next seasons. Like all other members of the gang, she has to base her codename on a city and decides to go by the Portugese capital Lisbon. She is focussed, persistent and determined throughout the series and works great under pressure (a perk of being trained as a police officer and a huge plus for the gang).

Her love story with the Professor certainly enhanced the genre of the show and has played a big role in changing the plot of the show. Their story is a powerful and romantic one as the Professor moves heaven and earth and to get her back with the gang after she’s arrested. He sneaks her back inside the Bank right under the noses of the officials and makes a fool out of the police officials yet again.
It takes time for the gang to become accustomed to working with a former police officer and they have a hard time trusting her. However, she becomes the professor’s right hand in the heist at the Bank of Spain and her insight into the tricks and trades of the cops is another added advantage. Now that she is inside the bank, it is speculated that she will have an even bigger role to play in the second phase release of the final chapter after Tokyo’s death.
The fans are certainly hoping for a happy ending for their beloved Professor and Lisbon’s relationship.
