The third season of the popular Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, has just concluded, leaving viewers both satisfied and wanting more. The show has always been known for its action-packed episodes and engaging storylines, and the finale of season three did not disappoint. The episode was filled with intense moments, making it necessary to analyze and discuss what it all means for the future of the show and the franchise as a whole.

Does Moff Gideon die?

One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind after watching the season finale is whether or not Moff Gideon is really dead. In the world of Star Wars, it’s not uncommon for characters to return even after their apparent demise. However, Moff Gideon’s death scene was pretty definitive, as his underground Imperial outpost was destroyed in a massive explosion caused by the Mandalorian fleet’s capital ship crashing into it.

But there are a few ways that Moff Gideon could have survived the explosion. One possibility is that his Dark Trooper armor protected him from most of the blast. As we’ve seen in the last few episodes, beskar steel is incredibly durable and can withstand multiple laser blasts. While an explosion is different from a laser blast, it’s not too far-fetched to think that Gideon’s armor could have saved him.

Another possibility is that Moff Gideon’s master plan to create an army of clones of himself could come into play. We learned in the season finale that Gideon’s goal all along was to create a group of clones implanted with the ability to wield the Force, a skill taken from Grogu’s DNA and grafted onto Gideon’s genetic makeup. While it appeared that Din Djarin had sabotaged all of Gideon’s clones, it’s not impossible for the villain to have stashed away a spare or two somewhere.

The possibilities for Moff Gideon’s return are endless, and if the showrunners want to work with actor Giancarlo Esposito again, they can easily cast him as one of Gideon’s clones.

The Mandalorian season three also gave fans plenty of exciting moments to look forward to in future seasons. The season finale saw Bo-Katan finally get her hands on the Darksaber, which is sure to lead to some intense moments between her and Din Djarin in the future. Additionally, we got a glimpse of the long-awaited live-action debut of fan-favorite character, Grand Admiral Thrawn.
