Tina Fey hasn’t given up on Mean Girls or Ms. Norbury quite yet. The former SNL star revealed on Thursday that she will return to the 2004 film’s musical remake as the math instructor. Tim Meadows, who formerly played Principal Duval, is also joining in the fun by reprising his role.

Fey is also writing and producing the upcoming musical film version. The comedian-writer co-wrote the first movie from 2004, in which she also acted as Ms. Norbury with Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. She subsequently went on to create both the script and book for the upcoming Broadway musical adaption that received a Tony nomination.

“Teachers work forever,” Fey joked on Late Night with Seth Meyers after making the announcement.  “I want it to be like when Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island would be at a trade show and you’d be like, ‘Oh, he looks so old in his little hat.’ That’s my goal.”

She told fellow SNL veteran Meyers, “We have an amazing cast, I’m super excited about this cast.”

She acknowledged that Renée Rapp will portray Regina George, Angourie Rice will play Cady Heron, Auli’i Cravalho will play Janis Ian, and Jaquel Spivey will play Damian Hubbard. The cast also includes Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners, Avantika as Karen Smith, and Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels.

“I do want to give you credit, you and Tim had parts in the original film that you couldn’t age out of,” Meyers joked after the announcement.

The “fascinating process” of transforming the musical’s songs into songs for the movie, which included music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin, was also discussed by Tina Fey. “The songs are sounding more kind of pop,” she said. “In Broadway, everything has to play to the back of the house, and in movies you can kind of come back in and things can play really intimately.”
