Actor Wamiqa Gabbi, who made her debut as female lead in ‘Sixteen’ will play the role of young Sivagami in Netflix’s Bahubali prequel series. The series, that was announced in 2018, is based on the life of the character Sivagami, queen of Maahishmati, played by Ramya Krishnan in the film, reported Bollywood Hungama.

According to media reports, the role was earlier offered ‘Super 30’ actor Mrunal Thakur but she couldn’t play the part because of scheduling issues. The report also suggested that shooting the project began and was scarped mid-way because makers were not happy with the way the series was turning up.

The makers have now re-started the project with a fresh cast and Wamiqa Gabbi is playing the role.
Wamiqa has been a part of various big-time Bollywood projects like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal and Mausam.

The series will be a prequel of SS
Rajamouli‘s blockbuster movie Bahubali that broke records at the box office. The series will be a partial adaptation of ‘The Rise of Sivagami’, a prequel novel to the 2015 film.
