‘Minions the Rise of Gru is the latest film from Illumination’s Despicable Me film series. The film premiered last weekend but it was originally set to be released in the year 2020 which got delayed due to the pandemic. It is also the latest movie to spark online memes and audiences are showing up in style to watch the movie. 

Videos of young audiences have taken all over social media and the videos show how they have dressed in suits to just watch Minions the Rise of Gru.

The viral trend of showing up to watch Minions in suits has become a reality-based counterpart to the “Tickets to ____ please” meme. That meme has been in frequent use for some time with the release of the Barbie film.

Minion film fans have gone into a frenzy. Not only did they wear suits and come to watch the film in theaters but they also cheered throughout thanking other patrons for coming to watch the movie. The video has gone so viral that Universal Pictures also tweeted about the trend. Many people also took to their Twitter and posted pictures of the boys in suits and wrote on the same.

Minions were first used in a computer animated film named as “ Despicable Me” in 2010. It was created by a team that consisted of character designers Eric Guillon and Pierre Coffin. Soon after their huge popularity, in the year of 2015 a origin story of the minions came up as a film. This was tilled as “Minions”. People and children started liking the character so much that in the next year in 2016 it became the official mascot of Universal studios. Due to its huge popularity many new films on Minions have also been made. 

Minions: The Rise of Gru is projected to make more than $129M, a new Fourth of July weekend box office record. Along with the marketing team of the film, Gen Z has also been promoting the film on Twitter and Tik Tok with videos that have boosted the visibility of the film and transformed it into a living meme.
