Jeffrey Jacob Abrams, an American filmmaker, is planning a sequel to 2005’s Constantine – which starred Keanu Reeves. Last year, a similar revival was given to The Matrix by Warner Bros.

The film, Constantine, was based on supernatural entities where Reeves was playing the role of an occult detective. The movie made $230 million globally and the remarkable portrayal has made it an indelible character for the public.

Who is JJ Abrams?

Abrams is well-recognised for creating many television series including Felicity (1998-2002), Lost (2004-2010) and his directorial films such as Mission: Impossible III (2006), Super 8 (2011), and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). He has not only co-written scripts, directed movies and, composed music but has also contributed through his acting skills.

He diligently appeared in small roles and provided voice-overs in movies such as Six Degrees of Separation and Mission: Impossible III.  Until now, J. J. has directed various hit movies in the industry while also having his own share of setbacks.

Having a father who produced films for television, he had a good reason behind his keen inclination toward the film industry. At 16, he wrote the music for the horror movie Nightbeast (1982).

Later, during his senior year at college, he collaborated with Paul Mazursky’s daughter, Jill Mazursky, on a feature film treatment. This film treatment was then purchased by Touchstone Pictures, and Abrams could produce it as his first film Taking Care of Business. This was the beginning of his career in movies after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College (1988).

A resident of New York City (U.S.), J.J. Abrams is married to public relations executive Katie McGrath. He is blessed with three children. Among two brothers, his daughter, Gracie Abrams, is a pop singer-songwriter.
