Lightning McQueen is the primary character of the Cars franchise and has featured in films like Cars 2 and Cars 3. Now Lightning McQueen will again be seen in the upcoming American animated series Cars on the Road which is set to premiere on September 8.

This series consists of nine episodes and it features Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater as the leads on a cross-country road trip to attend the wedding of Mater’s sister. 

Who is Lightning McQueen?

Lightning McQueen is a red race car with yellow and orange decals all over its body and it also has a Rust-Eze logo painted on its hood. The number 95 is painted orange and red on the doors of the car with red rims and lightning McQueen has majestic blue eyes.

It is a stock car also known by the name of Monty McQueen that has competed in the Piston Cup Racing Series since 2005. In 2017, McQueen became the trainer and crew chief of Cruz Ramirez for the Dinoco Piston Cup team.

Towards the start of its racing career, Lightning McQueen raced under the sponsorship of Smell Swell Deodorizer. However, he was fired from the racing league in favor of another young rookie car racer named Sammy Smelter. 

Lightning McQueen’s racing abilities garnered the attention of the Piston Cup Racing Series, and he became a recruit in the 2005 championship season.

Lightning McQueen is an anthropomorphic talking car which has been voiced by Owen Wilson in the film. It is known for his signature catchphrases like “Ka-chow!” and “I am Speed!”. It utters the catchphrases every time it has to impress the crowd with driving skills. 

This stock race car model has Gen4 NASCAR-style wheels and a rear spoiler.  The Chevrolet Corvette C1 and Chevrolet Corvette C6 are the two major car models that the design Lighting McQueen has been inspired from.  

Lightning McQueen was created as a tribute to Pixar animator Glenn McQueen who died of melanoma in 2001. Glenn McQueen had worked on many animated films like Toy Story, and Finding Nemo. He was also working as an animator in the film Cars before his demise in 2001.
