Radhika Apte is a theater artist and critically acclaimed Bollywood actor. She began acting in theatre and made her film debut with a brief role in the Hindi fantasy film ‘Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!’ in 2005. She has marked her place in the entertainment industry and earned fame by working in numerous dramas like Antaheen and in Netflix productions Lust Stories, Sacred Games and Ghoul.

Radhika has also worked in projects like Badlapur, Phobia, Parched, Pad Man, Raat Akeli hai and many other movies. She has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and English-language films.

In addition to her work in independent films, Apte has worked in more mainstream films, including the Tamil action film Kabali (2016), the Hindi biographical film Pad Man (2018), the Hindi drama-thriller about the stock market Baazaar (2018), and the Hindi black comedy Andhadhun (2018), all of which were commercially successful.

In 2021, she starred in India’s first science fiction comedy series, OK Computer where she played the role of Laxmi Suri, an AI Scientist. She has been married to London-based musician Benedict Taylor since 2012.  

Radhika, a celebrated actor, is known for selecting out-of-the-box scripts that mainly focus on social issues and non-mainstream lines of Bollywood. Some of her movies like Parched and Hunterr are widely applauded by critics around the world.

However, the actor often finds herself amid controversies based on her choice of roles and their representation. The latest being #boycottRadhikaApte that became one of top trends on Twitter on Friday.

  The trend emerged after some of the intimate scenes from Radhika’s ‘Parched’ went viral on social media.

Parched, a movie that talks about gender roles and discrimination through the lives of three women set in a remote village of Gujarat. The movie carries some scenes where Radhika, who plays the role of a woman who is not able to conceive, having sex with a person who is said to possess some powers. The scene was shot with Adil Hussain.
