She was recently featured in her first independent Marvel film titled ‘Black Widow’. The film dates back to the time when Natasha Romanoff’s black widow came into existence. The film was highly anticipated and ended up garnering massive engagement with its theatrical release and premiere on Disney+ Hotstar.

However, the actor has recently sued Disney over the ‘Black Widow’ streaming release. Scarlett alleged that the simultaneous release of the film in theatres and the streaming giant Disney+ Hotstar was a breach of contract. According to her attorney, her earnings were dependent on ticket sales, but the streaming release depressed the sales, affecting her earnings. “Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms Johansson from realising the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” read the lawsuit, as per The Wall Street Journal’s report.

“There is no merit whatsoever to this filing,” Disney said in a statement.

“The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic,” it added.
