Vijay Deverakonda’s much-awaited film Liger has been subject to boycott on social media. The Puri Jagganadh-directed film is facing social media backlash for a variety of reasons, the most serious of which is Vijay Deverakonda’s comments about Laal Singh Chaddha. Vijay Deverakonda has now shared a cryptic tweet on Twitter in Telugu.
It reads-“Manam Correct unnapudu, Mana Dharmam manam chesinapudu, Evvadi maata vinedhe ledu. Kotladudham. #Liger”.” In translation it means- “When we are correct, when we do our dharma, don’t have to listen to anyone. Let’s fight.”
The movie, which will hit theatres on August 25, is notable because it will be Deverakonda’s Bollywood debut.

Why did ‘Boycott Liger’ start?
The hashtag “boycott Liger” has been trending on Twitter ever since Vijay Deverakonda-backed actor Aamir Khan‘s movie Laal Singh Chaddha.
When asked about his views on Laal Singh Chaddha’s boycott the Arjun Reddy star told India Today- “I just think on a film set, other than the actor, director, and actress, there are many other important characters, there are 200-300 actors working on a film and all of us have staff members, so a film gives employment to many people and is a source of livelihood for many. When Aamir Khan sir makes a Laal Singh Chaddha, it is his name that stars in the film, but there are 2000-3000 families that are being provided for. When you decide to boycott a film, you are not only affecting Aamir Khan, you are affecting thousands of families who lose work and livelihoods. Aamir Sir is someone who pulls the crowd to the theatres. I am not sure why this boycott call is happening, but for whatever misunderstanding, this is happening, please realize you are not affecting Aamir Khan alone but the economy. It is a much bigger picture.”

Twitter has been divided on the issue, with many tweeting in support of the actor and thousands of tweets using the hashtag. Those who support the actor have slammed the trolls for focusing on the’self-made’ actor.
Unfortunately, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is paying a high price for being boycotted by a sizable portion of the public.

Why are people boycotting Laal Singh Chaddha?
Aamir Khan met Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan while filming Laal Singh Chaddha. Erdogan had shared some photos with the actor, which enraged Indians because Erdogan had previously commented on the Delhi riots, calling them “massacres of Muslims.”
Social media users were enraged and started boycotting the Advait Chandan film.
Tweets such as -“When you can watch the original classic for free, why waste money watching a trashy remake by a Hindu-bashing actor? #BoycottLalSinghChaddha,” and “Mr Perfectionist seems not bothered about the imperfections in his own faith but always preaches to Hindus & makes fun of our beliefs. Remember to #BoycottLalSinghChaddha,” started pouring in.
