Another release at D23’s Day 1 was Mufasa: The Lion King. The film is set to be the prequel to Lion King, and will deal with the life of Mufasa, Simba’s father.

Willow did not receive positive critical acclaim when it was first released. George Lucas, the executive producer of the film, created the Star Wars franchise but was unable to replicate the same success with the 1988 film. It remains to be seen whether the 2022 spinoff manages to win audiences over.
