From a quick breakfast meal to a hearty dessert, waffles can be devoured in numerous ways. On International Waffle Day, here are 3 waffle recipes that will leave you wanting more. 

1. Classic waffles

Starting off with a classic, plain waffles are easy to cook and delicious to devour. To make classic waffles, begin by gathering some ingredients. You will need two cups of all-purpose flour, a tablespoon of salt, two tablespoons of sugar, four teaspoons of baking powder, two eggs, 1 ½ cup of warm milk, ⅓ cup of melted butter and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. 

In a big bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar and baking powder and then set it aside. Preheat the waffle iron at a temperature of choice. Take another bowl and beat the eggs. Stir some butter, milk and vanilla and pour the milky concoction into the flour blend. Continue to beat until you reach a well-blended consistency. Finally, ladle out the blend on the waffle iron. Cook the waffles until they’re crisp and golden.

2. Belgian Waffle

Perfect for the weekend, Belgian waffles can be made through everyday ingredients available in your pantry. To make Belgian waffles, you will need regular flour, melted butter, eggs, sugar, baking powder, sugar and vanilla.

Begin by preheating your waffle iron and rubbing some butter on it. Blend the dry ingredients- baking powder, flour, sugar and salt.

Take another bowl and the eggs with a mixer until they turn frothy and pale. Add a dash of vanilla to the egg blend. Mix the egg mixture into the dry mixture. Let the mixture sit for five minutes, then add it to the preheated iron. Cook until golden brown. Finally, serve hot with maple syrup and whipped cream.

3. French toast waffles

You will need half a cup of whole milk, two eggs, a cooking spray, a tablespoon of maple syrup and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract, a dash of salt and four pieces of brioche. 

Begin by preheating your waffle iron with a cooking spray.

Blend eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract and salt in a wide bowl. Dip brioche slices in the blend. Put the dipped bread slices on a rimmed baking sheet and let it soak for about two minutes. 

Place the bread in the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown.
