The Temple of
Hathod is located in the Dendra Temple Comples in Dendra, Egypt, which is one
of the best-preserved temple complexes in the country. It is the dominant
building in the Dendra Temple complex – which was used as the sixth nome of
Upper Egypt, south of Abydos.

Construction
of the Temple of Hathod began in 54 BC and it has been modified on the same
site starting as far back as the Middle Kingdom and continuing right up until
the time of the Roman emperor Trajan. The temple’s hypostyle hall was built by
the second Roman emperor Tiberius.

There are
depictions of Cleopatra VI – a queen of Ptolemaic Egypt – on the temple walls which
represent the are from that era. On the back of the temple wall is a carving of
Cleopatra VII Philopator and her son Ptolemy VV Philopator Philometor Caeser, who
was fathered by Julius Caeser.
