Cup is an international badminton competition among members nations of the
Badminton World Federation. It is also known as the World Men’s Team
Championships. The tournament was first held in 1948-1949 and used to be held
every three years until 1982, when it was changed to every two years.

Indonesia
are the most successful team in the competition’s history, having won 14 titles,
followed by China (10), Malaysia (5) and one each for Denmark and Japan.

The 2020
edition, which was the competition’s 31st edition, was delayed due
to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was due to be held from August 15-13, 2020 but was
rescheduled to October 9-17, 2021. It was hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

China was
the defending men’s champion team and Japan was the defending women’s champion
team. They were defeated in the final by Indonesia and China respectively, who
increased their record to 14 and 15 titles respectively.
