Amazon Quiz (April 11, 2022): Who is the only woman to take 250 wickets in ODIs?

Anisa Mohammed

Jhulan Goswami

Shikha Pandey

Amelia Kerr

Answer: Jhulan Goswami

Born in 1982, Jhulan Goswami is an all-rounder who formerly captained India national women’s cricket team.

Regarded as one of the best women bowlers of all time and one of the fastest bowlers in the history of women’s cricket, the 39-year-old became the first woman in cricketing history to take 250 ODI wickets earlier in March 2022.

Goswami achieved the feat in an ICC Women’s Word Cup 2022 match against England on March 16, when she took the wicket of England opener Tammy Beaumont.

“I am happy that I was able to take 250 wickets but never thought about that in my life. Secondly, I would have been happy if we had won this match,” the 39-year-old said in a virtual post-match interview.

“Honestly speaking, I’m feeling good. 250 is a big number. Again, never thought about it. As a cricketer, you can’t plan for those things. It is just that if you are playing for 20 years, it’s good that you achieve some individual milestones. For me, winning matches for India is important and my contribution is there, that is something I always try to do that,” she added.

Goswami is leads the list of most wicket-taking women bowlers in ODI cricket, with 252 wickets, followed by Australia’s Cathryn Fitzpatrick and West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed, both of whom have 180 ODI wickets.
