Answer: Capybara

The capybara, also known as greater capybara, is the world’s largest rodent. It is native to South America. A form of the genus Hydrochoerus, capybaras are closely related to rock cavies and guinea pigs and distantly related to the nutria, chinchilla and the agouti. Its scientific names are hydrochoerus and hydrochaeris

The capybara habitats include dense forest, areas near water bodies, or savannas.

Although it is a highly active and social species that can live in groups of 100, capybaras usually tend to live in groups of 10 to 20.

While it is not considered threatening or predatory, it is often hunted for meat and for grease from its thick skin.

Its visual traits include a heavy or fat body that is shaped like a barrel, a short head, and brownish-red fur on the upper part of its body. The hair turns yellowish-brown in the lower parts.

Capybaras also possess sweat glands, a rare trait in most rodents. An adult capybara can grow to 3.48 to 4.40 ft in length and stand stand 20 to 24 inches tall.
