Social media platform Twitter on Thursday deleted two tweets of actor Kangana Ranaut, who has in the past 24 hours furiously attacked singer Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg, among others, for their tweets on the ongoing farmers’ agitation in India.

In a tweet preceding the deleted post, the actor shared a news item of the US backing India’s farm reforms, with the comment, “Listen to this librus tumhara baap Gajni bhi tumhein bachane nahin aaya … bhaag gaya…Ha ha.” (Listen Liberals, even you mentor ‘Gajni’ is not here to save you… he has fled).

The post immediately after this was deleted by Twitter for ‘violating Twitter rules’. Another post, tweeted earlier in the morning, was also deleted for the same reasons.

“We have taken action on tweets that were in violation of the Twitter Rules in line with our range of enforcement options,” ANI quoted a Twitter spokesperson as saying.

On Wednesday, the actor lashed out at Rihanna, calling her a ‘fool’ for supporting the farmers’ agitation that has been going on for the past more than two months. The farmers are seeking repeal of new farm laws that they say are anti-farmer.

Rihanna took to Twitter on Tuesday to criticise the Internet shutdown at the protest site.

“Why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest,” the 32-year-old singer wrote alongside a CNN news article headlined, “India cuts internet around New Delhi as protesting farmers clash with police.”

Soon, Ranaut responded with, “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers, they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA… Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies.”

Ranaut also took on activist Greta Thunberg who extended support to farmers saying “We stand with the #FarmersProtest in India”. She shared an article by CNN that described how internet services were suspended in parts of the national capital on January 26.

The actor promptly responded, calling her ‘dumb’ and a ‘spoilt brat’.

Farmers from across the country have been protesting along borders of the national capital for over two months now, against the three farm laws passed by the Central government in the Monsoon session of the Parliament last year.

Despite several rounds of talks, the two sides (farmer unions and the Centre) have remained deadlocked on the key issues of dismantling of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system and repeal of the agricultural reforms.
