The U-19 Indian cricket team had a dream World Cup campaign. Some of the newly-crowned champions will be hoping to shine in the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022. While eight members of the World Cup-winning side are not eligible for this season’s auction, those who are will give top IPL players a run for their money.

The IPL mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. The auction will start at 11 am IST on both days. The event will be broadcast live on the Star Sports network and Disney+Hotstar. This season’s competition will feature ten teams, with Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans joining as new franchises.

Raj Angad Bawa

Bawa has already become a household name. In the World Cup final versus England, the bowling all-rounder was named Player of the Match. He comes from a line of sporting greats. Tarlochan Singh Bawa, his grandfather, was a member of the Indian hockey team that won gold in the 1948 Olympics. Bawa is a right-handed medium pacer who bats left-handed. In the World Cup, he was India’s second-highest run-scorer and third-highest wicket-taker.

Yash Dhull

The Delhi native was the captain of India U-19 side. His century against Australia in the semi-finals propelled India to the World Cup final against England. Dhull made his presence known with an 82-run innings in the India’s tournament opener. He also led Delhi’s U-16 squad and rose to prominence with his achievements in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Challenger Trophy. His starting bid in the auction has been set at Rs 20 lakhs.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Former cricketer and analyst Akash Chopra believes Hangargekar might be one of the most expensive players available in the IPL auction. The medium-pacer from Maharashtra is also a proficient batsman. The power hitter is well-known for his tremendous hits. His all-around qualities are certain to pique the interest of bidders. Last year, he did remarkably well at the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, he also smashed a record 16 sixes and claimed 19 wickets.

Vicky Ostwal

Ostwal, one of the most reliable players in the U-19 squad, made an impression in the World Cup’s opening match with a remarkable fifer against South Africa. With 12 wickets in five matches, he went on to become India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament. In the U-19 Asia Cup final, the left-arm spinner was also named Man of the Match. Franchises wishing to strengthen their bowling lineup would place a large wager on Ostwal.

Harnoor Singh

The Jalandhar-born left-handed batter has emerged as a new glimmer of hope for Indian cricket. Singh became India’s leading run-scorer in the U-19 Asia Cup in the UAE, and he went on to win the Player of the Series award. He struck a century in a practice match against Australia at the U-19 World Cup, but it was his 88-run innings against Ireland that made him famous. Everyone was amazed by the southpaw’s performance in the U-19 Challenger Trophy when he scored three tons.
