Asking Twitter users to match her “coolness quotient” while wearing a pair of ripped jeans, Kangana said that most youngsters who wear them these days look like a “homeless beggar who hasn’t got allowance from parents this month”. She also added some pictures of her in ripped jeans.

The ripped jeans trend, which is causing quite a stir on social media from the past few days started after Tirath Singh Rawat, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, made a controversial statement that ripped jeans paves the way for societal breakdown and is a bad example parents set for their children which also leads to substance abuse.

However, the ripped jeans remark was not taken well by netizens, who in response to the pejorative comment launched a social media campaign flaunting their images wearing ripped jeans asking people to change their mentality not clothes.

Here’s is how Twitter reacted to the ripped jeans bandwagon.

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda also took to her Instagram to respond on Rawat’s comment.

“Change your mentality before changing our clothes because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like this send to society,” her Instagram post read.
