However, many users soon claimed that the portrait was not of ‘Netaji’, but of actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who played him in the 2019 biopic ‘Gumnami’.

“Presidentji, this is portrait of Prasanjit the actor who played Netaji in Bengali movie. not Netaji himself. Next week you should inaugrate (sic) a portrait of Ben Kingsley from movie Gandhi also. The set would be complete,” wrote a Twitter user.

“Inaugurate picture of (actor) Vivek Oberoi instead of (PM Narendra) Modiji”, actor “Ajay Devgan instead of (freedom fighter) Bhagat Singh” and put the picture of actor Arun Govil in the Ram temple at Ayodhya, Twitter users wrote.

Many shared “original picture” of Bose.

As per a report by NDTV, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) sources have rubbished the claim and asserted the Bose’s photograph was provided by his family. Artist Paresh Maity painted the portrait.

In the 2019 biopic, ‘Gumnami’ bore an uncanny resemblance with the freedom fighter. The Bengali film, directed by Srijit Mukherji, dealt with the mystery around ‘Netaji’s’ death, which has sparked several conspiracy theories.
