When you visit a national park or go on a wild safari, the first thing that comes to mind is seeing a tiger, sometimes known as the “god of the jungle.” Wildlife interactions are the most sought for by both wildlife lovers and visitors.

One such video, which depicts a sloth bear coming face to face with a tiger, is becoming popular on social media. Saket Badola, an Indian Forest Services (IFS) official, released a video of the brief encounter that occurred at Tadoba Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra.

“Greetings, of a somewhat different type,” Badola remarked in the video’s Twitter caption.

It shows the large cat lounging in the centre of a path within the tiger reserve, as a black bear walks by. When the two creatures meet one other, the bear leaps and rises up to terrify the tiger.

The large cat flinches as if about to fight, but the bear wanders away without facing the tiger, and the film finishes there.

Naman Agarwal took the video, which was also shared on the Facebook page of one of the Tadoba reserve’s lodges.

The incident has fascinated the internet. “That was a giant greeting,” one Twitter user commented.

A commenter on Facebook likened the two creatures to “Baloo and Sher Khan” from the iconic television series The Jungle Book. Baloo, a bear, protects Mowgli, a human infant, from Sher Khan, the ferocious tiger.
