Uttar Pradesh on Thursday reported 22,439 new COVID-19
cases, the highest daily number cases since the outbreak of the coronavirus
pandemic. Additionally, a total of 114 deaths were reported as well, as
per PTI.

The state, which has reported 7,66,360 cases so far, has
seen 9,480 people die from COVID-19 till now, PTI reported Additional Chief
Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad as saying.

Thursday marked the second day for Uttar Pradesh to mark a
record daily increase in COVID-19 cases.

“In the past 24 hours, 22,439 fresh cases were reported
while 4,222 people were discharged,” PTI quoted Prasad as saying, who
added that the state currently had 1,29,848 active cases of COVID-19.

Since 2020, as many as 6,27,032 people have recovered from
COVID-19 in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday imposed a
night-curfew in 10 districts, each of which has more than 2,000 active COVID-19
cases.

Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath had instructed district officials
to create quarantine centres in each district of the state to accommodate home-bound
migrant workers.

UP also postponed board exams for classes 10 and 12 on Thursday.

The examinations will be held after May 20, with new dates
being decided in the first week of May.
