Today, most of us have to look at an LED screen which causes discomfort in our eyes making them dry and itchy. However, there are some natural ways to prevent eye strain. Here is a list of some home remedies that will give you instant relief.

Eye massage

A gentle massage eases your eye strain instantly. Massage your eyelids, the muscle above the eyebrows, the under-eyes and temples with clean fingers. This helps increasing blood circulation in your eyes and calms the muscles around your eyes. Massaging your eyes also helps stimulating the tear glands to prevent dry eyes.

Aloe vera

Applying a thin layer of aloe vera onto your eyelids can help cooling down your eyes and relaxing muscle tension. The natural soothing properties of aloe vera help reduce puffiness in the eyes and increase blood circulation in the region.

The 20/20/20 rule

Continuous staring at smart screens always have harmful consequences and that is why taking breaks in between is very important. Follow the 20/20/20 rule and take a break of 20 seconds from your gadget every 20 minutes and look at something 20 feet away. This will reduce your eye strain and help you focus better.

Blink more

This may sound odd but when we stare at our gadget screens for long enough, we tend to forget blinking. It is a natural process that gives our eyes little breaks to relax. Blinking is important as it naturally prevents dry eyes.

Warm compress

Dip a soft, clean cloth in slightly warm water and find a comfortable place to lie down. Relax and apply the cloth onto your eyes for a minute. Repeat the procedure 3-5 times. Warm compress help to release muscle strain and prevent dry eyes after a long day of staring.

Cold compress

Just use cold water instead of warm water and the procedure is same as above. Cold water improves blood circulation and decreases the strain and puffiness of your eyes.
