The first basic
step to manage sensitive skin is to keep it clean at all times. You need to
have a suitable cleanser or can make one using basic ingredients from your
kitchen. Here are some dos and don’ts that you should know:

  • Never use hot water to wash your face because it can cause irritation
and dryness. The water has to be either cold/room temperature or lukewarm.
  • The cleanser has to suit your skin. You should avoid those that cause a
lot of foam as they might take away the moisture and natural oils from the
skin, leaving it dry and itchy.
  • Don’t be harsh – Avoid scrubbing your face after washing it. Even for
people who have regular skin, it is advisable that you don’t rub your face with
a towel. Just dab your face with a gentle cotton cloth and wipe it clean.
  • Once you are done with cleaning, use mild moisturising lotion to keep it
nourished and well hydrated. It also improves the blood flow which can help
with acne breakout and other skin irritations.
