Virat Kohli scored a half century in India’s match against Hong Kong on Wednesday. India went up against Hong Kong in their second contest of the Asia Cup 2022. Kohli’s 50 came in 40 balls. This was the first 50 of the tournament. But he was quickly followed up by Suryakumar Yadav.

Yadav moved up the tempo of the match as soon as he walked into the crease. He scored 68 runs out of 26 balls with a strike rate of 261.54. Suryakumar Yadav hit four sixes in the last over taking the total to 192. Hong Kong need 193 runs to win the match.

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave India a slow but solid start. Sharma attempted to increase the pace, scoring 21 runs of 13 balls, but he fell soon. It was an important innings for Sharma as he reached 12,000 runs as an opener. 

KL Rahul, who was out for a duck against Pakistan, remained slow but sure. He scored 36 runs out of 39 balls, a very slow innings by T20I standards.

Kohli and Yadav put up a 98-run partnership ensuring India put up a challenging total. They put up 78 runs in the last five overs. This was the third-highest score in death overs by India in a T20 International. 

Hong Kong won the toss against India in their second match of Asia Cup 2022 and chose to bowl first in their second Asia Cup 2022 group stage match on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. 

India began their Asia Cup campaign impressively, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.
