Swiatek’s father wanted his daughters to become competitive athletes which is why he preferred they take up an individual sport rather than a team sport.

Agata began her sports career with swimming, but later switched to tennis. Agata briefly competed on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2013 at the age of 15, but stopped playing due to injury troubles.

Swiatek is the first Polish to ever win a Grand Slam. She won the French Open in 2020 and by winning it she also became the youngest player to win the trophy after Rafael Nadal who did it in 2005.

In June, she won her 35th consecutive match to capture the 2022 French Open women’s championship with a straight-set victory over Coco Gauff at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
