After a match packed with high expectations, Delhi Capitals triumphed over Chennai Super Kings on Saturday by seven wickets in their IPL 2021 encounter. MS Dhoni, the skipper for CSK, said that the bowling attack of the team had to get back in the game after an unsatisfactory performance in the game. Dhoni got dismissed on duck.

Chennai set an over the average target of 189 runs, which DC glided over while making it seem effortless with major contributions from Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, who scored 85 and 72, respectively.

In the post-match presentation, Dhoni said, “We could have bowled slightly better, and if batters are hitting you over the fields, that’s fair enough. The execution of the bowlers was poor and there were boundary balls that they bowled, but the bowlers will have learned and they will apply that in the future games,” Dhoni said at the post-match press conference.”

Dhoni said the presence of dew on the field was the reason the CSK batsmen were seen putting boosted efforts in the first innings as DC skipper Rishabh Pant decided to field first.

Dhoni said, “A lot depended on dew, and that factor played on our mind from the start and that’s why we wanted to get as many runs as possible. The batters did a good job to reach 188 because it was tacky until dew settled in 50 minutes later. The opposition have half an hour advantage in a 7:30 start, when the pitch is really tacky and the ball stops a bit, so we need to get 15-20 runs extra to be safe

He added, “If we get dew consistently, then 200 will be a must on a pitch like this. The bowlers bowled a great line when it was stopping and seaming a bit, and the openers got really good balls in which they got out and that can happen in a game like this,” reported PTI.

Suresh Raina, who scored a powerful 54 in just 36 deliveries, made a strong statement in his revival match in this year’s IPL. Meanwhile, a 34 run push was to the CSK scoreboard was given by Sam Curran who secured 34 runs in 15 deliveries.
