Los Angeles Chargers chose to rest their starting quarterback Justin Herbert in order to avoid any injuries as the season progresses towards the playoffs. Chase Daniels was brought in with the team trailing 31-20 at Empower High.

With a playoff spot already sealed, the Chargers took Herbert off to prevent injury.

However, before being benched, Herbert managed to become the first quarterback since Peyton Manning to record more than 25 touchdown passes in all of the first three seasons of their respective careers.

Daniel had signed for the Charges in 2021, but managed to play just one game since he was serving as a backup to Herbert. He resigned with the Chargers in 2022.

Fans are saying that it is Herbert and a few of the other stars of the Chargers squad who have saved coach Brandon Staley. One Twitter user said, “Justin herbert and the rest of the stars on that team are single handedly keeping Staley employed, take away a couple of the stars and he’s fired after his first year of coaching”.

The Chargers have now finished second on the AFC West table after losing tonight’s match against the Denver Broncos with a scoreline of 31-28 in the hosts’ favor.

The Chargers had fielded a number of their starters in the fourth quarter of the match, but it was not enough to prevent a loss against the Broncos. They are now set to square off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card weekend.

However, they managed to reserve the fifth seed in the AFC when the Baltimore Ravens lost 27-16 to the Cincinnati Bengals.
