Jasprit Bumrah gave Mumbai Indians a flying start vs the Delhi Capitals with two early wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday. The 28-year-old, the first Indian pacer to take 250 T20 wickets, dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Prithvi Shaw in his first two overs.

After electing to bowl, Rohit Sharma brought Bumrah into the attack in the fourth over. The pacer first managed to take Mitchell Marsh’s edge with a good length delivery just outside off stump. The skipper took the catch diving low to his right at the slips. 

In his next over, Jasprit Bumrah delivered what was described as an ‘unplayable bouncer’ that smashed Prithvi Shaw on his gloves and flew to the wicketkeeper.

The DC opener tried to evade but had his hands up. Ishan Kishan dived forward to take the catch. 

Mumbai all-rounder Daniel Sams had taken the first wicket, David Warner, on the last ball of the third over.

Delhi were reduced to 31/3 after 5.4 overs.

Rovman Powell and Rishabh Pant, however, rescued the Delhi Capital who were 134/5 after 17.1 overs. Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed off spinner Mayank Markande for 10. The skipper, Pant, handed Ishan Kishan a catch off Ramandeep Singh. He scored 39 runs off 33 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six. 

Powell, in the meantime, kept putting pressure back on the Mumbai bowlers. He scored 43 off 34 balls before Bumrah did him with a toe crushing yorker. 

Bumrah finished with figures of 25/3 in his four overs.
