Oleta Adams performed the Black National Anthem ‘ Lift Every Voice and Sing’ at the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday. Country artist Brittney Spencer will sing the national anthem.

Social media went into a frenzy reacting to Oleta and Brittney’s performance, with some people praising them, while others remained unimpressed. One Twitter user wrote, “Oleta Adams looks amazing #NFLDRAFT,” while another wrote, “Oleta Adams is such a legend.”

Others who criticized Oleta said, “No disrespect to Oleta Adams but…@NFL need to get younger artists to do this type of stuff. Let them get their name out there. Tired of the artists that are out of their prime who shouldn’t be singing no more,” and another user tweeted, “This shit is so unnecessary #NFLDraft Oleta Adams”.

Brittney’s performance on the other hand only received praise from the audience, with people going gaga over her rendition of the national anthem. One Twitterati said, “Siri, download every song Brittney Spencer (@BrittNicx) has ever released stat! ” She SANG that y’all! #NFLDraft,” and another tweeted, “Brittney Spencer has one of theeeeeeee prettiest voices !!! Some of the girls better be glad she sings country….”

A third Twitter user said, “Most beautiful pre-sporting event national anthem I’ve heard in a very long time. Beautiful job by Brittney Spencer.”

After the national anthem, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the gems of the Kansas City Chiefs, kicked off the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday. The Super Bowl trophy was carried by the two players as they entered the stage and began to dance.

The sight of Mahomes and Kelce on stage thrilled the crowd. Twitter user: “Having Mahomes and Kelce roll up with the Lombardi trophy is such a power move.”

Bryce Young, meanwhile, secured the top choice in the draft. The Carolina Panthers selected him. The second-best pick overall was CJ Stroud. He signed with the Houston Texans.
