After causing a major upset in their first game against Bangladesh, Scotland will take on Papua New Guinea in the match No 5 of Round 1 of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat on Tuesday.

Scotland stunned Bangladesh by six runs after Chris Greaves’ magnificent all-round display. Greaves led a brilliant lower-order fightback with a 28-ball 45 as Scotland recovered from a hopeless situation to post 140 for nine in their first round Group B opener of the T20 showpiece.

Papua New Guinea, on the other hand, were beaten by hosts Oman. After restricting them to 129, Oman chased the target with six overs to spare.

Sent into bat, PNG lost both their openers for no score before skipper Assad Vala smashed 56 off 43 balls while Charles Amini made 37 off 26 balls as the duo added 81 runs for the third wicket.

But thereafter, PNG witnessed another batting collapse as they lost their next six wickets for 37 runs.

A win in this game gives Scotland a realistic chance at qualifying for the Super 12 round.

“We’re trying to keep our feet on the ground and not look too far ahead. If it [qualifying for the Super 12s] does happen, we believe it will, great. No team can be underestimated in T20 cricket, the beauty is, on any day someone can get big runs, take five wickets, do anything. Every member of this squad believes they can do it, that’s what stands us in good stead now,”  Scotland allrounder Michael Leask said ahead of the match, as per ESPN.
