After a long period of drought in runs from Virat Kohli, the former India captain he finally hit the mark during India’s match against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup 2022. The 33-years-old played a memorable knock at the Dubai International Stadium where he scored a massive 61-ball 122 with a strike rate of 200 – his 71st Century. 

Kohli was not out at the end of the match, along with Rishab Pant, as India put up a mammoth total of 212 for Afghanistan.

The highlight of the match is Kohli’s innings and everyone in the cricketing community came forward on to celebrate it. With their star player scoring a century after 1019 days, Indian cricket fans took to Twitter to celebrate it.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav also took the occasion to laud his former captain and current teammate, moments after he scored his 71st century. He wrote, “#ViratKohli” followed by a GOAT emoji which stands for Greatest Of All Time. He finished his tweet with, “that’s it, that’s the tweet”.

In fact, “THE KING IS BACK” started trending on Twitter soon after India’s innings was over. One user joined the trend and had this to say about Kohli’s performance.

Virat Kohli’s former teammate at the Royal Challengers Bangalore – AB de Villiers joined in the trend to congratulate Kohli. Here is his tweet.

Former India cricketer Amit Mishra also congratulated Kohli and wrote, ” We Hope we don’t have to wait so long for your 72nd century.”
