The Los Angeles Chargers faced the Denver Broncos in Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season on October 17 at the SoFi Stadium. While the highlight of the game came as the lack of home fans in the stands, it also saw injury woes.

The Chargers’ were handed an injury scare when 32-year-old placekicker Dustin Hopkins suffered a sore leg following a 37-yard field goal. The field goal helped the Chargers to make the score 10-10 with less than a minute left to be played in the second quarter.

Moments after scoring the 37-yard field goal, Chargers kicker Dustin Hopkins grabbed the back of his leg and looked to be in pain. He was taken to the medical tent soon after for evaluation, however, returned to the game later.

After he returned, the 32-year-old scored a 31-yards field goal on 4th and short. He registered a 100% field goal completion rate before it went into overtime, scoring 3 field goals and registering a total of 10 kicking points by that time.

Hopkins scored all three field goals with a sore leg as he was feeling discomfort. His performance received praise from many. “All the credit in the world to Dustin Hopkins tonight, clearly not even close to 50 or 60% rn but he’s still giving it all he’s got,” a user wrote on Twitter.

After he was evaluated in the medical tent before making his way back on the field, the Los Angeles Chargers kicker was seen practising some kicking motions on the sidelines. As per some reports, the 32-year-old faced some issues with his quad muscle in the right leg, however, the extent of the injury remains unknown so far.

Hopkins has registered an 83.3% field goal completion percentage in the 2022 NFL season so far, scoring in 5 out of 6 attempts. He has also accumulated a total of 26 kicking points this season.
