While audiences were not present at the Gabba to watch India play against Australia in a T20 World Cup 2022 warm-up match on Monday, October 17, the Men in Blue had some unique visitors in the stands. Members of the Pakistani cricket team were spotted in the stands, watching the Indian bowlers perform against Australia’s top order.

Pakistan cricket team members Haris Rauf, Shahnawaz Dahani and Mohammad Nawaz were spotted in the stands at the Gabba on Monday, accompanied by others in the team, watching India’s warm-up match against Australia. Apart from the trio, Pakistan captain Babar Azam and star bowler Shaheen Afridi were also seen in a discussion in the stands while watching the match.

Team India will be beginning their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on October 23, Sunday, when they take on Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The two nations faced each other in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup as well, when Pakistan registered a 10-wicket victory over the Men in Blue, essentially knocking them out of the tournament.

Since then, India and Pakistan have faced each other twice, both times in the Asia Cup earlier this year. While India managed to win the opening game in the group stage, Pakistan made a comeback in the next match, defeating them in the knockouts.

The Indian bowling is raising more eyebrows compared to the previous edition when they were defeated by Pakistan. The Men in Blue are missing out on star bowler Jasprit Bumrah as well as Deepak Chahar and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. This has left the Indian bowling lineup depleted, which was evident against Australia in the warm-up match.

On the other hand, the majority of Pakistan’s crucial players are without injuries, giving them a huge advantage in their campaign opener against India. However, Pakistani captain Babar Azam’s form has dwindled since the Asia Cup, while Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul have been in excellent forms and this could be the difference between the two sides when they meet each other on October 23.
