Who is Brandon Aiyuk?

Brandon Aiyuk is an American football player for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. He was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Aiyuk was born on March 17, 1998 in Rocklin, California. He graduated from Robert McQueen High School and played wide receiver, defensive back, and kick returner at the school. After completing school, Aiyuk committed to playing college football for Sierra College in California.

College Career: –

He caught 29 passes for 573 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman and was named All-Big 8 Conference. In his sophomore season, he was named a Junior College All-American after recording 60 receptions for 960 yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as returning 11 kickoffs for 418 yards and two touchdowns and 14 punts for 313 yards and a touchdown. He had 2,499 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns by the end of his junior college career.

Aiyuk chose Arizona State over Colorado State, Kansas, Tennessee, and Alabama for the final two years of his NCAA eligibility. He chose Arizona over other schools because only this university recruited him to play wide receiver.

Aiyuk had 33 catches for 474 yards and three touchdowns in his first year with Arizona, along with 381 total return yards. In his second season, Aiyuk had 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns.

NFL Career: –

The San Francisco 49ers selected Aiyuk in the first round with the 25th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after acquiring the pick in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings. Aiyuk signed a four-year, $12.5 million contract with the team on June 26, 2020, with a $6.6 million signing bonus.

In Week 2, he made his NFL debut against the New York Jets, recording two receptions for 21 yards in a 31-13 victory. Aiyuk had 101 yards from scrimmage and his first career rushing touchdown in a 36-9 win over the New York Giants in Week 3.

Overall, the player has played in a combined 29 games over two seasons with the 49ers. He has received 116 catches for 1574 yards and 10 TDs. The player has also run the football for 94 yards and has 2 rushing touchdowns to his name.
