Dak Prescott, quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to his late mother, Peggy Prescott by wearing custom Nike MOM cleats ahead of the against Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night in Week 13. Peggy died in 2013. 

Dak Prescott, full name Rayne Dakota Prescott, is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Having been selected by Dallas in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott started his professional football career in 2016.

Dak was an active football player in college at Mississippi State University before signing with the Cowboys. He was born on July 29, 1993, to Peggy and Nathaniel Prescott. Dak was the youngest of the couple’s three children.

Who was Peggy Prescott?

Peggy Prescott was a European-American woman. She died in 2013 aged 51 after a struggle with colon cancer. She worked as a manager of a truck shop.

According to Dallas News, when Dak started school, his parents got divorced. Peggy raised Dak and his siblings. She had three sons and one daughter.

Over the years, Dak has honored his mother with different colored shoes. In 2017, he wore custom Adidas cleats in a white and pink theme which also had red lips printed on them.

“My mom was my hero and No.1 supporter and fan. It was tough just watching what cancer did to her and knowing that all I could do was support her, love her and be there to try to pick her up when she was down,” Prescott said.

To memorize his mother, Dak established the Faith Fight Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose primary objective is to assist people facing hardship. He also wears the number 4 in honor of her birth date, September 4.
