Mast posted on X, the former Twitter site, emphasizing his steadfast support for Israel. He said, “As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel.” Some pictures of him on Friday in the IDF uniform were included with the post. This demonstrates his steadfast dedication to the country.

Shortly after the Hamas attack, Mast also referenced his time serving in the Israel Defense Forces in a post on X. “Those on the ground are willing to give their last breath for their country and for their friends, family, and neighbors,” he said, expressing his unique perspective as the only member of Congress to have worn the uniforms of both the Israeli Defense Forces and the U.S. Army. I’m praying for them. His sincere statement expressed how much he understood the commitment and sacrifice made by those serving on the front lines.

Mast contrasted his IDF uniform with the Palestinian flag flying outside Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-Mich.) office in his Friday post. He said, “She has her flag, Tlaib. My uniform arrived. “International Day of Rage,” my ass.

Tlaib, a Palestinian-American, came under fire for calling for the termination of US assistance to Israel in the wake of the Hamas assault on Saturday. She said that Israel was to blame for the conditions that led to the conflict, even if she denounced the violence. Her flying of the Palestinian flag has also come under fire, leading several of her pro-Israeli colleagues to come to her rescue.
