Space Force, the newest branch of the US military, has released its official song, Semer Supra, at the Air & Space Forces Association’s Air, Space and Cyber Conference on Monday, September 19. The title of the song has been derived from “Always Above”, the motto of the U.S. Space Force.

After the formation of the branch in 2019, former band member of the U.S. Air Force, James Teachenor, worked on creating the song with Gen. Jay Raymond, who is the Chief of Space Operations.

Teachenor said that the song “was a long work in progress because I wanted it to encompass all the capabilities that the Space Force offers and its vision”. He further added, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish a Space Force song that will be part of our culture and heritage for years to come”.

“We’re the mighty watchful eye,

Guardians beyond the blue,

The invisible front line,

Warfighters brave and true.

Boldly reaching into space,

There’s no limit to our sky.

Standing guard both night and day,

We’re the Space Force from on high.”

Since former US President Donald Trump announced the formation of the Space Force in 2019, it has been the subject of interest among civilians. Netflix has also made a show called Space Force starring Steve Carell, Lisa Kudrow, and John Malkovich. The series is a workplace comedy about a group of people who are trying to establish the Space Force.
