Trina, 47,
has often been described as one of the most “consistent female rappers of all
time”. Trina’s real name is Katrina Laverne Taylor. Trina shot to fame in 1998
with her appearance on the ‘Trick Daddy’ single ‘Nann Nigga’. Born in Miami,
Florida, Trina set out to become a real estate agent early in life before
making a switch to music.

Trina is in
the news now because a woman reported to be her 17-year-old niece was shot.
Trina’s brother Wilbrent Bain Jr. was murdered in 2013. Trina’s mother died
aged 62 after a long battle with cancer.

Trina’s first
album was titled ‘Da Baddest Bitch’. The album debuted at No. 33 on US
Billboard 200.  In 2001, Trina began work
on her second album in association with Missy Eliot. It was the same time when
Trina started her own label Diva Enterprises.

Trina’s second
album was titled ‘Diamond Princess’ released on August 27, 2022. Her third
studio album was called “Glamorest Life” which debuted at No. 11 on Billboard
200.

Trina was in an
on-again off-again relationship with rapper Lil Wayne from 2005 to 2007. Trina
and Lil sport tattoos of each other’s names. Trina has ‘Wayne’ written on her
wrist while Lil has ‘Trina’ written on his ring finger. The couple were once
engaged to be married.

Trina has also been associated with philanthropic endeavours. She founded the Diamond Doll Foundation, a non-profit organisation that helps younger girls sustain. 

Trina has got 10 nominations at the BET awards. Nine out of these 10 were for the ‘Best Female Hip-Hop Artist’ category. She has received four Source Award nominations winning one. Trina has been nominated for one American Music award and has also received an award for her appearance on the film “A Miami Tail”.
