Since John Adams, the second American president, graduated from Harvard in 1797, the university has been known for its high calibre graduates. Seven US presidents received their education at Harvard by the conclusion of the first decade of the twenty-first century.
– Over 4,000 football fields’ worth of land, or 5,457 acres, belong to Harvard. It wasn’t always this big, though. Harvard’s first semester of instruction took place in the summer of 1638 in a yard and a single-frame home. The main campus of the institution only occupies roughly 4% of the entire amount of land.
– The oldest collection in America can be found in one of the most renowned university libraries in the world, Harvard. There are 79 libraries; the largest and primary library is called the Widener Memorial Library. There are 92 kilometres of shelves on ten levels, housing roughly 3.5 million works in more than 100 languages. Four of the floors are underground since there was nowhere else to go except down when they needed to expand.
– Around 125 students were found cheating on a government class exam in 2012. Following an investigation by Harvard into this controversy, most of the accused students were forced to leave the school. “Try cheating your way out of this one!” read an amusing shirt that Yale – the arch-nemesis wore at a Harvard-Yale football game.
