Kibithu military camp or the Kibuthu military garrison is located near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh. The garrison was recently renamed after General Bipin Rawat and is now called Gen Bipin Rawat military garrison.
General Bipin Rawat was the first Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces. He, along with his wife, died in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2022.
Rawat was born in the Pauri town of Pauri Garhwal district in present-day Uttarakhand. Rawat was born into an army background. His father, Lakshman Singh Rawat, had retired as Deputy Chief of Army Staff.
Bipin Rawat married Madhulika Rawat in 1985. Madhulika was a descendant of an erstwhile princely family. Her father, Kunwar Mrigendra Singh, was an MLA from the Congress party.
During Rawat’s tenure as the Chief of Defence Staff, Madhulika Rawat was the president of the Army Wives Welfare Association.
