Answer: Kites

The theme of the newly-opened Atal foot over-bridge over Sabarmati river is Kites. The Atal foot over-bridge is also known as the Atal Pedestrian Bridge. It’s design is influenced by kites. The bridge was approved by the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) on March 21, 2018.

The Atal Pedestrian Bridge has been built at a cost of Rs 74 crore. Named after former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Atal Pedestrian Bridge finished construction on June 2022. It was inaugurated by current Indian PM Narendra Modi.

The bridge is located between Sardar Bridge and Ellis Bridge and was designed by STUP Consultants Ltd, based out of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The bridge was built by P&R Infraprojects Ltd.

The kite theme of the bridge comes from the fact that the rhombus shape is similar to kites. The truss elevation gives the impression of an arch supported on spherical bearings on each end. The depth of the truss varies across length.
