“Golden passports,” formally known as citizenship by investment (CBI) programs. They allow foreigners to receive citizenship or residency in exchange for investing a certain amount of money in a country. Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt this year said that he received a golden visa for the UAE. In Bulgaria, the MPs voted in favour of two amendments that will prevent foreigners from acquiring EU citizenship in exchange for large investments.
