Carolyn McCall, the CEO of British broadcaster ITV, was trolled on social media after presenter Phillip Schofield admitted to having an affair with a younger colleague.
Schofield has quit ITV.

“Time for Carolyn McCall to play against the same rules she’s set for others, resulting in quality people leaving ITV, and step down. Just like she expected the others to do,” a Twitter user said.
“Woke ITV CEO Carolyn McCall happily gets rid of Piers Morgan, Jeremy Clarkson, Carol McGiffin and Jeremy Kyle, but allowed her senior executives to cover up for Phillip Schofield for FOUR YEARS. They must all step down now. This was the reason I left ITV in November 2019,” Dan Wootton tweeted.
“Carolyn McCall should step down and the whole show of This Morning should end for allowing this, as they knew when his whole coming-out story cover up was allowed on air,” a third one said.
McCall is yet to issue a statement on Schofield’s admission.
The TV presenter admitted he lied about the relationship to ITV, his colleagues, friends and his agents, YMU, who have since parted ways with Schofield.

Who is Carolyn McCall?
Dame Carolyn Julia McCall is a British businesswoman. She has been the chief executive of ITV since 2018. She has also worked as the CEO of easyJet from 2010 to 2017.
McCall is of Scottish and Irish descent. She was born in September 1961 in Bangalore, India and is 61 years old.
Her father Arthur McCall was an executive of the Far East division of a US textile multinational. Her mother worked for the British High Commission in India.

Carolyn McCall studied in India and Singapore before getting admitted into the Roman Catholic girls’ boarding school in Derbyshire. She graduated with a BA in history and politics degree at the University of Kent, Canterbury.
She is married to Peter Frawley. The couple has three children – Emmeline, Max, and Dan.
McCall taught at the Holland Park School. She has a master’s degree in politics from the University of London.
