Schools
in Delhi are set to reopen in a phased manner of the remaining classes (nursery
to class 8) from November 1, 2021. On
Wednesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced the
reopening of schools in the national capital following Coronavirus protocols.

Many parents
also wanted to restart physical classes for the children of classes 6-8. It has
been reported that the DDMA intends to contact the department of education to
review the progress of students already in classes; Officials also sought
expert opinion to further assess the potential risks to the opening of the
remaining classrooms.

The DDMA
maintained that the Covid situation in the city is “good” but
precautions must be maintained, sources present in the meeting chaired by Lt
Governor Anil Baijal said.

During
Wednesday’s meeting, the DDMA has finally decided to allow the remaining
students to attend their classes from November 1, but the mechanisms for
opening the stages will be determined at the first DDMA meeting after Dussehra,
officials said.

All the
government and private schools in Delhi for classes nine to 12 were allowed to
reopen on September 1 by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.

In another
announcement, the government body has also put in place a series of procedures
to monitor Dussehra and Durga Puja in Delhi, although there are limitations
such as crowd strength restrictions, mask compliance, etc. due to the existing
coronavirus (Covid-19) condition.

The DDMA is
looking ahead to the upcoming festive season because there is always a risk of spreading
Covid-19 virus. He called on the organizers to convene a meeting at all the
seats.

Meanwhile, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, at a meeting of DDMA said that it was decided to consider opening middle school classes 6-8, after the festive season as suggested by the experts.

Also, no restaurants or exhibitions can be held as part of the
festivities. In addition to the 100 per cent compliance, the DDMA has made it
mandatory to ensure that there are separate entry and exit gate for all
festivals in the national capital.
