Be it her
outstanding performance in ‘Chandni’, her sizzling look as ‘Miss Hawaa Hawaii’ in ‘Mr India’, or a cameo in her last movie ‘Zero’, Sridevi was not just a pretty face, but one of the most talented
actors in Bollywood.

She had a strong
connection with the audience which many even today find hard to establish. Apart
from that, she also danced like a dream which made the people in theatres swoon
over her moves.

Sridevi died
on February 24, 2018, and her sudden death shook the film industry and her fans.
The actor passed away in Dubai after suffering from a cardiac arrest.

She started
working as a child actor in various languages and got the taste of stardom in

On her 57th
birth anniversary, let’s take a look at some of her best movies.

Chandni

Sridevi’s
film career skyrocketed after the 1989 film ‘Chandni’ in which she played the
love interest of two actors – Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna.

Directed by
Yash Chopra, the film follows the journey oChandni Mathur, a young effervescent woman torn
between two suitors. The music of Chandni was composed by Shiv-Hari
and the lyrics were provided by Anand Bakshi.

Mr India

Another blockbuster
movie starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi is ‘Mr India’. The actor played a
reporter with whom Mr India eventually fell in love with.

Her bubbly
portrayal of Seema, her unforgettable performance in ‘Hawa Hawaii’ and her
untamed sensuousness in ‘Kaate nahi katte’ has made Mr India one of Bollywood’s best film ever.

ChaalBaaz

Sridevi played twins,
the submissive Anju and the boisterous Manju. In the movie, Manju helps Anju turn
the tables on Anupam Kher and Rohini Hattangadi’s scheming characters.

Success came in the form
of box-office returns and her first Hindi Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Nagina

This 1985 movie stars Sridevi
as a young and enigmatic Rajni, a shape-shifting serpent. Her love story with
Rishi Kapoor in the film was loved by everyone, but what stole the show was her
‘Nagin’ character. The song ‘Main Teri Dushman’ with Amrish Puri as the snake
charmer is still remembered by the fans.

Khuda Gawah

The movie was talked about because Amitabh Bachchan had given a string of flops
and was banking on Sridevi’s partnership to provide him with a much-needed hit.

It’s said he
sent a truck full of roses to make her say yes to the project. Her performance
matched Amitabh’s larger-than-life character and this 1993 movie gained a cult
following over the years.
