Grand Theft Auto or GTA’s sixth game has gotten leaked as there are clips and images from the early test stages out on the internet. The blow to Rockstar Games comes right after the ninth anniversary of GTA V, which innovatively let gamers play as three different characters, and even left them with choices that would direct how the storyline progressed.

The new leak doesn’t show much except for some movement, shooting, and swimming mechanics, along with a peek into a GTA nightclub. However, fans have discerned some details from the early glimpses – apart from the obvious confirmation that the game developers are still working on the yet-unreleased title. GTA VI is set in Vice City, and thus far there seem to be two playable characters – a male named Jason and a female called Lucia. However, they could be placeholders and Rockstar might decide to go with other character names at the time of release.

The reactions to the leak are a mixture of excitement, at getting to see footage from a fan-favourite game, and schadenfreude at how Rockstar will react to the news. The game developers are notorious for keeping details under wraps until they are ready to reveal a title. Thus, many are predicting a strong backlash from Rockstar.

One individual made a Thanos reference, noting that the developers had been working on GTA 6 for years, so leakers took it upon themselves to give fans a glimpse of the work being done.

Another individual expressed excitement at buying the game but was a little apprehensive that Rockstar might do “something stupid” after the leak.

Reportedly 3.4 GB of data got leaked, and many are anticipating Rockstar won’t go easy on whoever was behind this action.

One Twitter user commented, “GTA 6 gunna have bigger blowback than last of us 2 lmao”. When Sony and Naughty Dog’s zombie title’s plot got leaked online, the game’s release was pushed back from May 29, 2020, to June 19, 2020. Sony started using patented anti-spoiler technology, and both Naughty Dog and Sony started filing numerous DMCA claims, to silence people talking about leaked details.
